Catching up with rubbishRubbish collections for brown bins will resume on Monday, January 11, in South Ribble.
The break will allow collection crews to cope with the increase in other types of rubbish and recycling.
A spokesman s
aid: "As we don't collect rubbish or recycling on Christmas Day or New Year's Day, there will be some changes to collection services for those who usually have their waste collected on a Friday.
"If your waste is collected on any day but Friday, your arrangements will remain the same, except for your brown bin."
Long arm of the lawNearly 4,000 criminals who were wanted on warrant or on prison recall have been arrested by Lancashire Police this year.
Since January 1, 430 people who were recalled to prison were arrested and put back behind bars and 3,500 wanted on warrant were put before the courts.
Home work scam alertPeople in Lancashire are being advised to ignore an e-mail scam.
Lancashire County Council and the police have issued a warning over the scam which involves people receiving unsolicited e mails offering an opportunity with an American company to work from home.

Market fresh from farmersFresh farm produce will be on sale at Samlesbury in the first market of the new year.
The village's war memorial hall in Cuerdale Lane will host the sale on January 6 from 9am to 1pm.

Farms plans new buildingA new farm building will be constructed in Chipping if planning permission is granted. Plans have been submitted for the works at Higher Lickhurst Farm, Leagram-with-Bowland.
Garden homeA home could be constructed in the garden of a home in Longridge. Ribble Valley Council has received an application for the development in Chapel Hill.
Driver was not insuredAn uninsured driver has been fined.
Liam Anthony Fielding, 18, of Bridgend Court, Ingol, Preston, was stopped while driving a Citroen car in Blackpool Road, magistrates in Preston heard.
He was convicted in his absence, fined £80 and banned for six months. He must also pay £35 costs.
Motorist in road banA motorist who was behind the wheel without insurance has been fined.
Siddique Yakub Gurjee, 33, of Golbourne Street, Deepdale, was driving a Renault car in Castleton Road, Preston. He was fined £80 by magistrates in Preston after pleading guilty to the offence and was also ordered to pay £35 costs and the £15 victim surcharge. He was also disqualified from driving for six months.
Woman, 58, guilty pleaA 58-year-old woman has been fined for having no insurance.
Mary Wilson, of Chorley Road, Walton-le-Dale, appeared before magistrates in Preston. She pleaded guilty and was fined £80. She was also told to pay £35 costs and the £15 victim surcharge fund and given six points on her licence.
Man, 23, is bound overA man has been bound over by a court.
Samuel Coyle, 23, of Brackenbury Road, Preston, admitted causing a breach of the peace. He was bound over by Preston Magistrates Court for 12 months.
Open meeting for budgetDetails of the county council's budget will be revealed on January 7, it has been confirmed.
A cabinet meeting at County Hall open to the public will reveal how bosses will make savings after promising to freeze council tax bills. It takes place between 2pm and 5pm.
Walking in the winter...A Ramblers Festival of Winter Walks is to be held in part of Lancashire.

Man denies breaking AsboA man has made his first appearance at court accused of breaching an Anti Social Behaviour Order at Kirkham.
Francis Cullen, 24, of Station Road, Kirkham, pleaded not guilty to breaching an ASBO by being in Poulton Street between 9pm and 6am on December 21.
Cullen was bailed to March 15 for trial by Blackpool's magistrates.

Landlord held lock-inA Leyland pub landlord who was caught by police hosting an illegal lock-in has been given a two-year conditional discharge.
Jason Moore, the former manager of the Black Bull in School Lane, Moss Side, pleaded guilty to two breaches of section 136 of the Licensing Act 2003 when he appeared before South Ribble Magistrates Court. Moore admitted selling alcohol and providing regulated entertainment in the early hours. Police raided the pub on November 29 and Moore was arrested on December 10.
No costs were awarded by the bench after learning of his financial position. The 35-year-old told the court in mitigation he had lost his £40,000 investment in the pub, his home and job.
l Mr Moore has not, and does not, live at an address in Northlands, Leyland.
Accused of stealingA man appeared before Preston magistrates charged with breaking into a house and stealing DVDs, CDs and a games console.
Ian Wrona, 36, of Derby Street, is alleged to have taken £1,234.99 of goods from the house, also on Derby Street, in October.
He was bailed to appear before Preston Magistrates' Court on February 17.
