A woman has been charged with murder after a man was found stabbed to death in a Leyland street.
Susan Kenny, 33, of Manor House Close in Leyland, will appear at Chorley magistrates on Monday morning charged with the murder of Kevin Rogers, 23.

The remaining 11 people arrested in connection with the inquiry have now been released without charge.

Mr Rogers, of Bannister Drive, Leyland, was found by police in Edgehill Crescent, Leyland, at around 5.30am on January 1.

Police had been called to a party in the street and discovered him lying in the middle of the road.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

A postmortem examination confirmed that Mr Rogers died from a single fatal stab wound to the back.

Det Supt Andy Webster from Lancashire police's Force Major Investigation Team, which is investigating the incident, said, "Naturally, this is a very distressing time for Mr Rogers' family and we have specially trained officers supporting them.

"The investigation continues to move forward and we are now starting to build a clear picture of what actually happened during the early hours of New Years Day.

"I am particularly keen to hear from anyone who was in the vicinity of Edgehill Crescent during the early hours of New Years Day.

"We are treating the death as murder and it is important that anyone who has information contacts us on 01772 614444. People can also call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."

Stunned local people on Edgehill Crescent, a quiet community characterised by semi detached homes, awoke to the tragedy on New Years Day morning.

One woman, who did not wish to be named, said she woke to find the street swarming with detectives, uniformed officers and forensics teams.

She said:"It is quiet here, you get the odd drunk cutting through at a weekend but nothing major."

Another neighbour added: "We have lived here more than 30 years and have never seen anything like this.

"It is such a tragic start to the New Year. I feel sorry for his family."

Neighbourhood policing teams are working with the local community and extra patrols are being stepped up in the area.
