A BODY found in the Fylde countryside has been identified as missing man David Thomson.
The grim discovery was made yesterday afternoon by a member of the public in Scorton, near Garstang.

Police say Mr Thomson's body was found in a ditch.

The 26-year-old had not been seen by his family since he left his home on Nightingale Drive, Poulton, on January 16.

His abandoned blue Vauxhall Astra was found in Scorton.

A police spokesman said: "At this stage, the death is being treated as unexplained."

A post mortem is due to be carried out later today.

The Scorton area has been the centre of a search for Mr Thomson over the last few weeks.
