NINE people accused of conspiracy to defraud customers of the vehicle advertising magazine Auto Trader have made their first appearance at court.
The offence is alleged to involve £80,000 and taken place between May 2008 and February last year.

The defendants are all alleged to have worked for Automart Online Limited, of the Metropolitan Business Park, Preston New Road, Blackpool.

The company itself also faces the conspiracy charge and 71 offences of breaching the customer protection from unfair trading rules.

The defendants are: Sian Briggs, 32, of Penrose Avenue; Charlotte Crawford, 23, of Hornby Road; Stuart Holt, 37, of Fredora Avenue; Gemma Field, 19, of Harcourt Road; Scott Lion, 19, of Breck Road; Vicki Stephenson, 21, of Freckleton Street; Emma Powell, 22, of Mulberry Mews; all of Blackpool, David Wise, 50, of The Promenade, Fleetwood, and Kaylea Downes, 20, of Chequers Lane, Droitwich.

Lee Petrak, prosecuting on behalf of Blackpool Council's trading standards department, asked for the case to go straight to crown court.

Blackpool magistrates sent the case direct to Preston Crown Court and bailed the defendants to appear there on May 20.
