Alert over crimewave in centre

Police are urging shopkeepers to be vigilant after a shoplifting spree in Garstang’s town centre .

Garstang police are investigating three thefts which took place on December 13 and think a gang might have been operating in the town.

A £470 bicycle was stolen from Car Care on High Street, a bottle of Bacardi worth £17.50 was taken from the Co-op, also on High Street.

Meanwhile, a quantity ofcosmetics valued at £60 of was taken from the Co-op Pharmacy in Cherestanc Square.

A police spokesman said: “At this time of year people should be vigilant about keeping things of value secure.”

A brick was thrown through a car windscreen and some days later through a front room window at a house in Catterall.

A car was broken into on the car park of Guy’s Thatched Hamlet, in Bilsborrow, on December 13.

In a separate incident a car number plate was stolen from a vehicle parked at Guy’s some time between December 12 and 13.
