Twenty jobs will be created when a pub which has been closed for two and a half years reopens, say the owners.

Building work has begun at the Horns Inn on the edge of Churchtown, near Garstang.

The pub will be closed for a further eight weeks before new lessees, Mitchell’s of Lancaster open its doors once again.

Star Pubs & Bars, the landlords, and Mitchell’s of Lancaster say they will, between them, be spending £370,000 on transforming the pub inside and out into what they believe will be the best food and cask ale pub in the area.

As a result of this investment, 20 jobs, ranging from chefs to bar and waiting staff will be created.

Keith Hornblow, operations and sales director of Star Pubs & Bars, said: “We’re delighted that local pub company, Mitchell’s of Lancaster, is to lease the Horns Inn.

“We have waited for more than two years to find the right partner who shared our vision to create a great traditional British pub and would turn it into a
destination pub for people wanting
excellent food, drink and service while ensuring it has a place at the heart of the community.

“Before plans were drawn up, we conducted extensive research into the local area, and are
confident that the Horns will
satisfy a gap in the market place with its quality offer.”

Jonathan Barker, managing director of Mitchell’s of Lancaster, added: “We’re pleased that this significant investment in the Horns Inn will create local jobs and provide the community with a great pub offering excellent food and drink.

“Located in Churchtown off the A6, The Horns Inn is ideally situated.”

After the changes it will have three full-time and eight part-time staff.
