Young footballers have some new kit, thanks to the Sainsbury’s store in Garstang.

Cockerham FC asked the store to sponsor drill training tops for more 200 children aged six to 16 who live in around Garstang.

The children meet every week and needed the Active Kids equipment to help keep them warm during the winter months.

Garstang store PR ambassador Hayley Woolley asked head office for a grant and the tops were presented to club leader Dave Graham.

Helping other causes, the store assisted pupils from Ripley St Thomas raise money for their hockey tour.

A donation of chocolates and a bottle of sherry have been given to Leonard Cheshire Disability Oaklands, and a contribution was made to a coffee morning at the United Reformed Church in Garstang. Louise Ayre and her family have been in the store bag packing to continue fundraising for the A.D.A.M. Appeal, raising £2,660, and the Marie Curie charity raised £226.07 from a collection in store.
