Induction: Pastor Irwin and Maxine Pratt at the special service

Despite sub zero temperatures outside, there was a very great warmth of spirit and a large enthusiastic congregation at St Eadmar’s Church, Bleasdale, on Sunday afternoon.

The occasion was the inauguration of Mrs Maxine Pratt as the new president of Churches Together in Brock Valley (CTBV).

The service was conducted by the Rev Jeff Finch, Rector of Fellside, assisted by other clergy of the Brock Valley churches.

The address was given by Canon Ron Greenall, who paid tribute to the study, worship, mission outreach and service shown and shared by the CTBV. He commented especially on its part in the Preston Guild 2012 Ecumenical Procession.

The retiring president, Pastor John Irwin, inducted Maxine with the cross, book and symbols of her office. In response Maxine thanked John for his vision, enthusiasm and devotion during his year of office.

Maxine said: “In CTBV my vision of our future in 2013 is to continue with the progress that has already been made in uniting the churches of Brock Valley.

“United we can grow, disunited we will fall apart.”

She went on to outline some of the activities planned for this year, including the Stations of the Cross united walk on Good Friday, the patronal festival barbecue at St Edmar’s on June 9 and also the support there would be for this year’s chosen charity, Life NoW.

The collection from the service was given to this appeal which focuses in the north west and supporting parents of children needing palliative care.
