GARSTANG and district has been celebrating more success in the Lancashire Best Kept village competition.
Winners were presented with their trophies at a ceremony in Mellor on Sunday. Garstang came first in the large village class, while St Michael's on Wyre was highly commended in the 'Champion village' category.
In the small village section, Inskip with Sowerby was a runner-up, as well as taking the prize for most improved village/hamlet.
St Hilda's church, Bilsborrow, was highly commended in the places of worship section. St Aidan's CE High School, Preesall, took first place in the school grounds section, with St Peter's CE school, Inskip highly commended.
In the shop/filling station category, a highly commended certificate went to The Hindquarter at Knott End. In the farm section the winner was Catterall's Farm, St Michaels on Wyre, with Sweetings Farm, Cockerham highly commended.
Winner of the hotel/guest house section went to Middle Holly in Forton. Sandy Bay caravan park, Preesall received a highly commended in the caravan site section, while St Michaels on Wyre village noticeboard also received a highly commended. Bowling clubs at Whitechapel and Stalmine were also highly commended.
