A FLYING trapeze artist from Mongolia has swapped his high flying act for a more down to earth job - at Dew-Lay.
But even though he is no longer wowing audiences with his death defying big top moves Davi Sosor, 42, believes life is still a circus working with the 'big cheeses' of Garstang.
Circus
Davi, who hails from Ulan Bator, Mongolia's capital, has toured the world with the Mongolian State Circus working with Gerry Cottles touring troupe, and starred at Blackpool Tower Circus for many years.
As a strong arm catcher, he's spent his life hanging upside down and has mastered just about every circus trick in the book including the triple and quadruple somersaults
Davi, who lives with his family near Bamber Bridge, reckons making hand crafted Lancashire cheese is just as big a thrill as his former job – but a whole lot safer!
"I love it", said Davi "It's like one big family at Dew-Lay. I'm a very happy man."
His role in the team the Flying Jantsans, required fantastic upper body strength which also helps him in his current job in the cheese factory where he often lifts 40 kilo cheeses and helps make cheese in the old fashioned, hands-on, way.
Juggler
Davi, who first joined the circus when he was 14, is also an accomplished juggler and acrobat and still keeps his hand in. He also keeps in contact with all his circus colleagues all over the world.
He has recently formed a community circus school in Preston, based at the Ingol sports campus, where he stages special workshops for youngsters helping them to keep fit, and learning to juggle and balance.
Meanwhile Davi says he has developed a taste for Lancashire cheeses including the famous Lancashire Tasty and Creamy Lancashire.
"It's wonderful stuff", said Davi "and I particularly like the Garstang Blue … it's a real change from the Yaks milk and goats cheese we get back in Mongolia."
