GARSTANG'S ever popular Children's Festival was a riot of colour in the sunshine on Bank Holiday Monday.
The fine weather brought out crowds of people to line the route of the procession, to watch the many and varied entries - on themes ranging from children's book characters to films and TV - as well as marching bands, clubs and societies and representatives from local organisations.

* A VIDEO of the Children's Festival will be on this website from lunchtime Wednesday

Jamie Wright,

Garstang 28/05/2009 23:04:19
Following this weekends Garstangs Childrens festival, which must be Garstangs grandest event of the year. It brings the community together and hours upon hours go into the organizing of floats and costumes and as usual this weekend’s procession was just as perfect as always with the added bonus of the weather.

When I purchased the courier this week, looking forward to viewing the professional photographs of this great event, I was nothing but disappointed. The showing of photographs in the printed edition covered only a small selection, after viewing the photo gallery on the web site to find only a selection of the parade to be photographed must have left the children and families so very disappointed. After the hours and hours of work that must have been put in by EVERY participant, which provided the fantastic parade presented on wit Monday, only to find that our only local paper ‘The Courier’ could not even provide each child with a remembrance photograph of their individual efforts.

I personally would like to thank everyone involved for the fantastic display provided for all the onlookers and hope that you’re your own family and friends have taken photographs for you to cherish.

Your Sincerely
Jamie Wright
