A DIRE weather forecast failed to prevent folk turning up in their hundreds to support Bleasdale Tower Garden Open Days.
Organisers of the annual event - proceeds from which are split between the village church of St Eadmer's, the primary school and parish hall - had been fearing the worst, but are now highly delighted with what turned out to be another successful weekend.
Contrary to what forecasters predicted, the sun shone and everyone reported a wonderful time enjoyed by all - with rain only appearing late on Saturday and just one heavy shower on Sunday.
And proceeds are said to be not far off the £3,000 mark, almost matching those of last year's event.
"We did very well considering the weather forecast and people turned up, even when it was raining, which was impressive. We consider ourselves lucky that we got away with it," said the Rev Derek Leyland, adding that the community's thanks went to the owners of Bleasdale Tower, the Duckworths, for opening up their grounds.
