THE great 'reveal' of Garstang's new Booths proved popular with special guests who were invited for a first glimpse at a preview opening.
Chairman of the company Edwin Booth and new manager Paul Guy welcomed the Mayor of Garstang and prize winning members of the public to tour the new store and sample a selection of the goods on offer.
Over 400 people attended the event, and were treated to a taste of produce from various local suppliers including hotpot, local ales and wines, a variety of cheeses, vegetables and fruit, ice cream and a very popular chocolate fountain.
The shop was crowded with people wanting to take in the sights of a store that has been so greatly anticipated. And no one was left disappointed with the store buzzing with positive reactions.
Manager Paul Guy, from Blackpool, who has worked with the company for 30 years and moved to Garstang from the Windermere store was delighted by the reception. He said: "It has just been an amazing response and I am thrilled. It is an exciting time for us and I think we will have people returning.
"So many people have been saying 'about time' and how good it is for Garstang. I am sure we will bring people back.
"People need to come and see what we have. We've talked a lot but now people can see we really have put our money where our mouths are."
Chairman Edwin Booth also got his first chance to tour the new facility and was clearly impressed. He said: "I have only just seen the store for the first time and am blown away.
"It really is wonderful for the people of Garstang. We've served customers here for a long time but with a small store we weren't able to put out a full range. Now we can serve them and the outlining districts much better.
"This facility has been built for whole households, easy for young families and old, and it will be a great community hub."
Mayor Gordon Harter visiting with wife Lynn, was also very impressed. He said: "I think the store is a real credit to Garstang.
"And I think it has the pulling power to get people down the High Street.
"It is a superb store and I think tonight has been absolutely brilliant."
