Scorton Festival (PICTURE GALLERY)

PICTURE postcard village Scorton kept on smiling despite the wet weather at the annual rose queen crowning ceremony on Saturday.
The parade was led by local dignitaries followed by Pilling Silver Band.
Retiring queen Vicky Woodhouse crowned the Rose Queen 2008 Rosie Fraser who was accompanied by her retinue comprising Cerys Mawby, Oscar Cray and Richard Horner.
Fancy dress competition winners were:
Megan Byatt as Stephanie from Lazy Town
Scorton Toddler Group as American Cheerleaders
Jonty and Ernest Collinson as Olympic Gymnasts
Scorton School pupils as members of the Olympic Squad.
The festivities included maypole dancing, tombolas, a coconut shy and music provide by Pilling Silver Band.
l The new queen, Rosie attends Scorton Church of England Primary School and has one sister, Niamh, who also attends the school. Rosie's hobbies include drama and writing short stories.
