VILLAGERS celebrated in the sun on Saturday when a carnival atmosphere descended on Stalmine.
Highlight of the day's events was the crowning of Stalmine Primary School pupil Amy Weir as village gala queen by Mrs Mary Greenwood, one of Stalmine's village 'elders' and a respected resident.
The village streets were lined with spectators as a parade comprising 10 floats plus fancy dress entries wound its way around the community.
Aswell as the floats therewere several queens from other rural Wyre villages.
Music for the gala, organised by Stalmine School, was provided by an all-girl group 'Mellia' who sang a variety of popular songs.
Among the many popular entrants were a selection of "scarecrows" courtesy Over Wyre Boys Brigade and Stalmine Scouts.
Acting head at Stalmine Primary School, Mrs Rachel Legge, said it had been a great event, hugely popular in the village and with hundreds of people enjoying the day.
PARADE WINNERS:
Floats: Stalmine under 5s playgroup (Fond farewell/farm animals)
Fancy dress: The Lion, The Witch and theWardrobe.
Other winners: Over Wyre Boys Brigade (Scarecrows)
