The showstopping talents of three young dancers from Garstang have landed them places in the finals of a national dancing competition.

Siblings Steven and Rachel Booker and Louisa McClintock, all members of Happiways dance school in Cabus, will be travelling to Guildford in October in a bid to become champions of the ISTD National Disco Freestyle Finals.

It is a huge feat for the youngsters, all pupils of Garstang St Thomas CE School, who beat off tough competition in their categories at the recent regional heats in Wakefield.

Rachel,10, earned her place in her set dance category - the under 10 bronze/silver, whilst Steven,7 and Louisa,8, paired up and scooped first place in the under 8 rock and roll section.

Steven, who only began dancing last year, also celebrated success in the under 8 street section at another competition in Castleford.

Mum Sarah Booker said: “Steven and Louisa danced in the Under 8 Rock n Roll section and won against tough competition,

“We came home with an armful of trophies on the day from the solo, pairs and street dance events.

“Their teacher, Laura, has worked very hard with the dancers over the last few months and their efforts are starting to pay off with great results.”

Last year, over 42 dance schools from around the country took part in the finals, with several hundred competitors.
