Ladies of the WI put on a good spread for visitors to Garstang for the annual show.

he North West’s largest craft and produce show took place at the Best Western Garstang Country Hotel and Golf Club.

Members of all 167 groups across the district showcased over 2,000 exhibits including cookery, art, horticulture, craft, preserves, and photography.

The show now in it’s 35th year was entitled ‘More than Jam and Jerursalem’ and celebrated the Women’s Institute centenary.

Chairman, Lancashire Federation of Women’s Institutes Shirley Thornton speaking ahead of the show said: “The last year of celebratory events has been absolutely fantastic.

“There is great interest in the movement, with new WIs opening in all corners of our Federation, in workplaces, towns and cities.

“We now have over 7,000 members in Lancashire and the future is looking very bright.

“I am proud to be leading it at this exciting time.”
