Garstang’s Fair Trade Centre is organising a safari with a difference - a three day trip to Bruges.

Fig Tree Director Bruce Crowther is keen to assess what the local demand is for this chocolate lovers’ holiday. He announced the new Fair Trade Chocolate Safaris to Bruges - decribed as the “chocolate capital of Europe” - this week. Explaining they are a follow-on from the Fair Trade Chocolate workshops the Centre already runs he said: “We will use the trips to promote the message of Fair Trade, but really it’s a fun trip.”

The first tour runs from Wednesday March 20 to Friday March 22 at a cost of £250 per head. This includes the Hull-Zeebruge ferry crossing, two nights’ accommodation in a twin berth cabin, a fair trade chocolate tasting workshop and a chocolate tour of Bruges including a visit to the Choco Story Museum and an opportunity to sample vodka and chocolate pairing. The fee includes travel from Hull, with a ferry crossing from Hull to Zeebruge. If you’d like more details contact Bruce on 01995 602637 or 07526 713255. He anticipates in the future there will be packages for corporate, campaign or social groups, should there be demand.

Transport for a group to and from Garstang can also be arranged at an additional cost of £45 per person. He also stressed the timing of the trip will be perfect for people wishing to stock up on special chocolates for Easter.
