COMPETITION organisers say they received many “wonderful’’ entries for the recent ‘Beautiful Bowland’ photo competition, designed to capture the Forest of Bowland AONB’s sense of place.
Images submitted by included ones depicting the Forest of Bowland as a wonderful place to enjoy, a living landscape, a landscape rich in heritage and others captured its wild open spaces.
One of the judges commented: “A great collection of photographs reflecting the beauty of Bowland and the activities of residents and visitors enjoying the spirit of the area.
“I was particularly impressed with the efforts of the Under-16s. Well done to all.’’
Special congratulations go to the winners of the competition, who truly caught the essence of the Forest of Bowland.
The professional category winner was Jon Brook with an awe inspiring sunset over the Great Stone of Fourstones, Bentham.
The non-professional category winner was Graham Wilkinson, from Chipping, who snapped a wonderful photo of cyclists relaxing and enjoying the view from Longridge Fell.
And finally the Under 16s winner Lois Westall - who really captured the enjoyment of Bowland with a day out at Sawley Abbey!
Competition judges were Graham Cooper (www.forestofbowlandimages.com) and Veronica Caperon (www.redhouse1.co.uk) who volunteered their time.
Organisers have also thanked all the tourism businesses in Bowland who kindly donated the prizes for the competition.
