A SPORTS science student from Morecambe who entered a modelling competition he saw on Facebook is one of 10 finalists gracing shop windows across the UK.
Laurence Cope, 18, a former Morecambe High School pupil, who is studying at Southbank in London, is to be featured in the Next denim campaign wearing jeans and casualwear.

This means he will be seen in shop displays and national publications acros
s the country.

He said: "The final in London was a good experience and I wouldn't mind modelling as a career.

"My mum was really happy but my friends were all shocked."

Laurence was one of 10 finalists for the Next 'Make me the Next Model Competition' that took place in July last year, with over 4,200 entries.

The final was held at London's Old Billingsgate where 4,200 entrants were whittled down to 50 by public vote and then 50 became 10 after a day of model boot camp, catwalks and headshots.

The 10 finalists then strutted down the runway modelling the collections alongside the professionals from Select.

They were being watched by the judges, which included the face of Next, Emanuela de Paula and hosts Alesha Dixon and Paul Sculfor.

Champagne corks popped and elated winners, contestants and models partied into the small hours celebrating the live final and the party continued to the VIP area of hip London hangout 24.
