THE city council seems to be playing a game of 'Call My Bluff' with the owners of the Midland Hotel.
Urban Splash's plans to give Morecambe central promenade a major facelift will finally be discussed at a planning meeting next Monday – more than two years after they were first put on the table.

But council officers say the proposals should be refused.

Many will see putting the original plans up for discussion as an attempt to force Urban Splash's hand to come back with an improved scheme, something they have so far failed to do.

The Manchester-based design firm promised revamped plans in early 2009, after a public consultation revealed several flaws with the development.
But the rethink was put on hold and now Urban Splash says an amended scheme could be ready by spring 2010.

See this week's Visitor for full story.
