The next 12 months are set to be a year of discovery in Bowland as the 2016 ‘Discover Bowland’ brochure hits the streets.

Launched at the Shireburn Arms, in Hurst Green, it showcases the landscape, wildlife, people and places of the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, which covers 312 square miles of rural Lancashire and North Yorkshire.

There are dark sky discovery sites, family friendly activities, local producers and more than 80 Festival Bowland events in the brand new guide, its release having been celebrated by local businesses, tourism staff, event organisers and councillors invited to the launch.

The guide shows the AONB is a fantastic spot for walking and offers many opportunities for wildlife-spotting. It’s also home to an enviable range of cafes, pubs and restaurants, many of which champion local food and drink.

The free guide is available from AONB Visitor Information Centres, from a range of local venues, businesses and accommodation providers and there’s an online version on the AONB website at www.forestofbowland.com plus a full calendar of Festival Bowland events.
