POLICE are investigating after a man's body was found in countryside near Scorton.
The grim discovery was made by a member of the public in the village at 12.45pm on Sunday.
Police say the man's body was found in a ditch.
Officers from the under water search unit attended the scene to help recover the body.
A police spokesman said: "At this stage, the death is being treated as unexplained."
No further details about the man's identity, or a possible cause of death, have been released.
