More than 40 volunteers made their way into the woods to help restore a local beauty spot damaged by the reckless antics of illegal off-road drivers.
Considerable damage was caused to an area of bluebells at the biological heritage site, in Boggy Wood, Brock, when a group of 4x4 drivers drove off the tracks and got stuck in the mud.
But after hearing of the damage, members of the Red Rose Land Rover Club and the local GLASS1 forum plus other local people have rallied together to restore part of the habitat and build new barriers to prevent future incidents.
The group spent a full day digging and raking to repair the damaged areas and put in place new posts and boulders.
David Goode, principal public rights of way officer for the Countryside Service, said: "When I arrived there was a line of parked Land Rovers stretching as far as the eye could see and a crowd of volunteers eager to get started.
"I was amazed at the enthusiasm, hard work and goodwill and also by the diverse range of talents that they brought. By the time we left they had done all the work that I had planned and quite a lot more.
"It looks fantastic – it is unrecognisable from the mess that we were faced with."
