FORGET the smart Sunday suit and the traditional hymn tunes - and make way for the leather clad lads (and lasses) and the rock music of U2.
That's the message from Garstang Methodist Church which next week is hosting a special service for the North West's motorbike enthusiasts.
Garstang Meth-odist Church has organised the service next Wednesday and is encouraging all motorcyclists, including 'born again' bikers (older bikers who have renewed interest in bikes in their middle and mature years) to attend.
Behind the idea is church worker Will Nightingale who says there will be several emphases - to pray for biker friends who have been killed in accidents, to pray for safety at this summer's TT races in the Isle of Man and on local roads this summer and for bikers to receive a blessing for safe riding this season.
Leaflets publicising the service are being distributed at popular bikers' haunts such as the ferry cafe at Knott End and at Devil's Bridge, Kirkby Lonsdale.
Will said he had no idea how many people would be attending the informal service, where the music of ever-popular band U2 will be played, and there were no rules about the kind of clothes people would be expected to wear.
He said: "It is for bikers, there is no need for them to dress any differently how they would normally. We want to welcome them and to let them know we are a welcoming church."
l The bikers' service will last for an hour and will be followed by a barbecue. It starts at 7pm on Wednesday, May 14.
