A WORLD War 2 smoke mortar bomb was discovered yesterday evening (May 7) at Wolfen Hall, Chipping.
An army bomb disposal unit attended the scene this morning and carried out a controlled explosion at 10.30am.
A police spokesperson said: "We received a call yesterday evening after an unexploded bomb was found by the head gamekeeper.
"We were fairly confident that there was no concern for safety issues as the bomb was in a area which is not accessible to the public.
"It was cordoned off and left overnight until this morning, when a controlled explosion took place with no problems."
