A MAN believed to be from the Garstang area died after colliding with a train yesterday.
The incident happened near Brock Crossing, Bilsborrow, at about 8.50am.
The driver of the train, the 07.03 Birmingham to Glasgow, spotted the man emerging from bushes onto the West Coast main line but was unable to stop the train in time.
The train, which was travelling at about 110mph, came to a halt about half a mile north of Brock crossing.
The air ambulance was called but paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene.
Train services on the West Coast main line were temporarily disrupted. British Transport Police are investigating the incident.
A spokesman for BTP said efforts were being made to identify the man, who was thought to be local.
