POLICE in north Lancashire are warning drug users to be on their guard for a potentially deadly batch of heroin in the area.
Police fear the purity of the drugs could cause illness or even death for drug addicts who may take it unaware of its strength.
Officers have had reports that several people have become ill after taking the drug.
Det Con Ness Gregson, of Lancaster CID, said: "We would urge drug users to be aware that there is a batch of what seems to be unusually pure heroin in circulation and that this has the potential to cause serious illness if taken. Anyone who has concerns should call Lancaster Police or Crimestoppers."
Anyone with information should call Lancaster Police on 01524 63333 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
