Reward offer to catch car vandals

A GARAGE owner is offering a reward for information after 10 of his 4x4s were vandalised.
Peter Helm, who owns Preesall Garage, Sandy Lane, Preesall, is desperate to catch the person who scratched the bonnets of his Range Rovers, Land Rovers and Discoveries over the weekend, causing thousands of pounds worth of damage.
And he says he is willing to give a substantial amount of money to anybody who can lead police to the culprit.
Mr Helm said: "I've been here 15 years and this has never happened before. I can't get my head around it. This is a very quiet place and a nice trading area.
"I want to nip this in the bud. I don't want it to happen again."
Mr Helm believes the incident happened on Saturday night. The damage to the vehicles could cost up to £3,000 to repair, and he is worried his insurance premium will increase.
He continued: "It's a very hard job at the moment and this kind of thing doesn't help it. There are bills going through parliament which has made things very insecure. I'm not sure if someone has done this in protest against bigger vehicles but people round here buy 4x4s for a reason - they're towing vehicles.
"If it's someone local, I'll be very upset. My son and I built up the business from nothing and but everything we had into it to make it what it is today."
