A YOUNGSTER from Elswick is up for The Cup after landing a key acting role in a major new BBC comedy series.
Henry Smith plays one of the young footballers, Gordy, in the new programme The Cup, which begins on Thursday at 9.30pm on BBC2.
Henry will be playing alongside another local actor, 24-year-old Craig Cunningham from Preston, who plays Henry's on screen dad, known as 'Fourbellies'.
The Cup is shot in a documentary style and centres on the fictional Ashburn United FC and their quest to win the North and Midlands Under 11s cup, following the players and their self-centred and obsessive parents.
