THE UK Independence Party has selected its second candidate for one of the two newly-created north Lancashire seats for the next general election.
BAe aircraft engineer Nigel Cecil, 44, of Bilsborrow, will stand in the Wyre and Preston North constituency.
The father-of-two has lived in various parts of the country, having been born into an RAF family, and after qualifying as a mechanic his var
ied career has included working in road haulage.
He believes his experience of living and working all over the country has given him a broad view of life and honed his political views.
He said: "I have become involved as I found myself lost and disillusioned with British politics, especially the arrogant and condescending approach by the three main parties.
"My strong belief that change is possible, not only inspires me, it drives me to achieve.
"UKIP believes in 'small government' and feels that local people should be directly involved in local issues," said Mr Cecil.
"Meanwhile the menacing cloud of Europe is blotting out the sunlight of freedom. As a UKIP activist I believe in trading with our European neighbours but not being governed by the European Union.
"The reality is so much of our every day life is directly or indirectly affected by rules made by the EU, and UKIP is the only legitimate party fighting against this," he said.
Last week the anti-EU party announced its candidate for the Lancaster and Fleetwood seat, Dr Fred McGlade, 56, of Caton.
The Lancaster and Fleetwood seat includes the northern Over Wyre villages and the rural area south of Lancaster city as well as the city and the port.
The Wyre and Preston North seat includes the rural Preston villages, Garstang and the southern rural Wyre villages.
