MOTORBIKE champion Adam Cross will swap the tracks for a route along the canal in his latest push for success.
15-year-old Adam from Garstang is gearing up for the new racing season and aiming to take the new Kawasaki powered National Junior Cup title for 2012.
Adam and dad Paul have been busy preparing for the new series opener at BSB Brands Hatch on April 6-9 but are also concentrating their efforts on two fundraisers to help Adam through the championships.
On March 10 Adam will complete a sponsored walk dressed in his leathers from Garstang to Lancaster along the canal.
Money raised will go towards helping Adam achieve his title hopes with a donation also being given to local cancer charity Vine House.
He said: “Last year I got back on the bike for the first time since my accident.
“I found the buzz for it again and got back racing and couldn’t believe the times I was getting.
“I have been working hard in the gym three times a week and I’m looking forward now to the championships.
“I’m confident and hope to do well but it’s going to be a bit more difficult this year with my exams.”
An evening of entertainment has also been planned at the Wyrebank Garstang on March 17.
Local band Beyond Monsoon will entertain guests and there will be a hot pot supper and raffle.
“The Wyrebank have been great in letting us hold the event,” Adam added, “We’ve got a great band, food and some exclusie raffle prizes.
“It will be a good night.”
Adam is hoping the event will help attract more sponsorship to help realise his professional ambitions.
“I’m really grateful for the support I’ve had already with my sponsor G.C.Haulage but it is such an expensive sport.”
Garstang Community Academy Year 11 pupil Adam had a fantastic season last year after being crowned PDMC Junior Champion and runner up in the 125cc and Single Cylinder championships.
He also finished runner-up in the 125cc single cylinder and junior cup championships setting numerous fastest laps.
Tickets for the entertainment night on March 17 cost £11.50. Please call 01995 600481
