It was plain sailing for 10 year old Amy Rose when she was asked to name a very special boat.

The craft in question, dry docked of the A6 at the entrance to Bilsborrow, now rejoices in the name “Lady Flower Top” after Amy, a pupil at John Cross primary school , Bilsborrow, won a contest to name the flower filled boat. It is all part of Bilsborrow in Bloom’s new bid for success in the Britain in Bloom contest.

Rebecca Bleasdale, who is leading the local bid, bought the rowing boat for £15 off eBay and has painted and planted it up as a reference to Bilsborrow’s location by the Lancaster canal. Photo shows Amy with local parish council chairman Coun. Shaun Turner, Rebecca and her daughter Charlotte. Anyone wishing to volunteer to help the Bloom effort should contact Rebecca.
