All those who took part in Longridge’s record-breaking, twentieth ‘20 Miles, 20 Pubs Walk’ are invited to the cheque presentation event this weekend.
This is to take place at The Alston Arms on Saturday at 9pm.
The 2013 walk not only attracted record numbers, but also looks set to smash all previous records for the total raised by thousands of pounds.
Following on from this year’s walk, Longridge Unaffiliated Mountaineering and Peregrination Society walk organiser Alan Heaton said that early indications estimated that once all expenses were accounted for, this year’s milestone walk would have raised in the region of £18,000 through sponsorship and donations - but all is set to be revealed on Saturday.
This year, funds will be split between Longridge cricket and hockey clubs and the military charity, Help for Heroes. Alan described this year’s walk as “amazing” and a “good job done” after 551 walkers - 170 more than normal - took part in a route similar to that of the first walk, starting and finishing in Longridge.
