THERE’S a ‘new’ face at the helm of one of Garstang’s most popular charity shops.

Anne Hankin, formerly assistant manager of the Sue Ryder shop, Church Street, has now taken over the role from Trish Walmsley who retired recently.

Anne said: “This is my first time working in retail. I started doing two days a week as assistant to Trish last September.

“We have a great team of volunteers and the shop is doing so well.”

Anne has had a varied career, including several years as promotions manager at the Lancashire Evening Post, which included organising the newspaper’s holiday promotions.

She has also worked independently in the travel/holiday trade.

More recently she in worked in the classified sales department at ‘Lancashire Life’ magazine.

Anne, a divorcee of The Moorings, Garstang, lives with her partner Darrell Marsh, who is better known as local DJ and toastmaster Darrell Edwards. The couple plan to marry later this year.

She has two grown up children and three grandchildren.
