Garstang Youth Council boosted its charity funds by £200 after organising a coffee morning with an Armed Forces Day theme at the former Fig Tree cafe in Garstang Community Centre.

The money will go to Youth Mayor Oliver Atkinson’s chosen charity - Kepple Lane Park.

The young members of the council earned praise from Town Mayor Lynn Harter for their hard work and initiative after after hearing Youth Coun. Atkinson tell the Town Council how £600 had been raised for charity so far with a bag pack at Sainsbury’s supermarket, a cake sale and a Walking Festival Treasure Hunt, in addition to the coffee morning.
