It’s double delight at Barton Grange Garden Centre, which has just won the destination garden centre of the year award from the Garden Centre Association.
This is the second year running that the family-run business has scooped the honour, which recognises it as the best large garden centre in the UK.
The announcement was made at the annual GCA conference in Oxfordshire.
And that is not all – Barton Grange also won the award for having the best disabled facilities, the best catering, the best farm shop and the best garden care department.
The proud staff were also presented with an award for the best Christmas displays.
“It’s quite overwhelming to win this again,” managing director Guy Topping, told the awards ceremony.
“We have a wonderful team who do a brilliant job making the garden centre what it is. I am so proud of all of them. We’re a family run independent business and pride ourselves on our first class customer service and the friendliest of northern welcomes.”
Barton Grange opened in March 2008 at Brock, having moved from its old premises along the A6 next to the Barton Grange Hotel, in Barton.
The centre is no stranger to awards – one of the quirkiest being for its urinals shaped like flowers. Shoppers can enjoy a covered outdoor area to enable all-weather plant shopping, two restaurants and a farm shop.
In 2009 the centre launched its cookshop which has also picked up a number of awards.”
