School’s out for summer and this year’s leavers from Whitechapel primary school were bowled over – literally.

The 14 Year six pupils were invited by Whitechapel Bowling Club to go across and learn how to play the game.

Bursar Karen Slater explained it’s become something of a tradition for the club to extend an end of term invitation to Whitechapel school leavers try out the bowling green which is adjacent to the school on Church Lane in Whitechapel.

Afterwards the youngsters were treated to a special tea.

Pupils will now progress to four different secondary schools - Longridge High, Archbishop Temple at Fulwood, Broughton High and Lancaster Girls’ Grammar School for the next stage in their education.
