A bus stop and bench demolished in an accident on a busy road at Broughton, where the speed limit has recently been reduced from 40mph to 30mph, has led to further concerns over speeding and safety.
Speeding on Whittingham Lane is already a PACT priority and following the accident at 8.30pm on July 28, a resident said: “A two-vehicle collision took place.
“One vehicle, a private hire car, collided with a concrete bus stop pole opposite 85 Whittingham Lane completely demolishing it, together with the seat alongside it.
“Fortunately, no would-be bus passengers were waiting at the time, otherwise a fatality would have taken place.”
Police say a taxi driver has been reported for an alleged section 3 offence.
