Garstang Rangers are fundraising to enable five members to head off to a major international scouting and guiding events in California and Japan.
They are hoping for a bumper turn out at a Pampered Chef Evening on Wednesday October 15 at 7.30pm at the Guide Hut on Kepple Lane in Garstang. Tickets will cost £1 which includes entry to the raffle and refreshments will be available.
Rangers Harriet Kelsall and Annabel Humphries are looking forward to representing the region at the 23rd World Scout Jamboree 2015 in Japan.
As well as taking in the sights of Tokyo, the girls will meet scouts and guides from across the globe. They will also have the chance to experience Japanese culture by staying with a host family.
Meanwhile Hannah Lawrenson, Amelia Colquhoun, Alicia Clegg and leader Melissa Biggin are heading for a California Jamboree next year too.
Alicia said: “We are also designing a badge which we can give to other girls who we meet over there. We will a have a tour around San Francisco visiting monuments and experiencing the fantastic cultures and lifestyle in the city.”
Spokeswoman Emma Maudsley said: “They will take part in activities with girls from around the world encouraging them to develop their confidence, courage and character, whilst learning about the cultures of those countries represented.”
She added: “It is a great achievement for so many local young women to be selected to represent the north west region of girlguiding. Each girl is tasked with fundraising the cost of these trips and the support of the community is greatly appreciated.”
The five Rangers are also dedicated volunteers at 3rd Garstang guides.
