KIND hearted fundraisers in Winmarleigh raised £2,500 from a fundraising night for a hospital breast cancer screening unit.

Chris Ridway was diagnosed with breast cancer in September following a routine breast screening at Lancaster Breast Screening Unit.

From diagnosis to being given the all clear including surgery was in total just over seven weeks – following what Chris describes as “an incredible response’’ from the team at the Breast Screening Unit.

During her illness friends at Chris’ local pub, The Patten Arms at Winmarleigh, arranged an auction of promises, raffle and quiz night for the breast screening unit in November.

Chris says: “The response was fantastic and for something that had been organised in just over two weeks they raised £2.500 for the Breast Screening Unit at Lancaster Hospital.’’

Chris and Ron would like to thank all their friends and local businesses who gave so generously and supported this cause, with a special thank you to Bob and Percy for organising the evening and a very personal thank you to all the staff at the unit for their medical expertise, care and emotional support.
