A CANNABIS factory which contained drugs with a potential street value of £60,000 was discovered by police following a raid on a farm in Hambleton.

Officers from a support unit executed a drugs warrant at the property in Cutts Lane at around 6.30am on Friday.

The well established cannabis cultivation was found in a garage at the address. The plants were seized by officers, along with a large quantity of cash and a number of pieces of high-value jewellery.

A 28-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of producing a controlled class B drug and has been released on bail pending further inquiries.

Sgt James Pinder, Wyre police, said: “This was a significant seizure of cannabis, which has now been prevented from making its way into the drugs supply chain. We are committed to taking action against those who we suspect to be involved with illegal drugs.

“I would urge residents to work with us and report any suspicious activity.”

Information about drugs can be reported to the police on 0845 1 25 35 45 or to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
