“So do you both do a lot of fishing?” it was a question that raised quite a laugh for couple Frances Nickson and Gareth Nazurally.

For what Canon Ron Greenall hadn’t realised when they told him they’d been brought together by Plenty of Fish was that they were referring to the popular online dating site.

Three and a half years later, Gareth, 32, youngest son of Margaret and Ayoob and 30-year-old Frances, only daughter of Lyn and David Nickson, were married at St Thomas’s Church in Garstang. And their May 24 nuptials marked a very special date for a number of reasons.

It was 50 years to the day since Canon Ron Greenall’s ordination into the church and 30 years since he carried out his first christening at St Thomas’s for none other than Frances herself.

The couple celebrated their day with 120 family and friends at the Barn in Scorton.
