Get those brushes out and capture the joys of spring with the help of tuition from artist Terry O’Toole.
The painter is starting his new programme for beginners and improvers at Garstang Arts Centre this month.
Participants will be taught how to create effective skies, show off the enchanting shades of springtime bluebell woods to their best advantage and learn how to paint from photographs.
Terry works with small groups of students of all ages, utilising mostly watercolours and pastels, with occasional other mediums.
“I’ve been running classes for around 10 years in Lytham and Preston, and for three or four years at Garstang Arts Centre,” said Terry.
“The class attracts all ages, and we have an annual exhibition of students’ work at Garstang Arts Centre. This year’s exhibition, in February, went very well and had some of the best ever work from students.
“If anyone has have ever wanted to paint in watercolour, charcoal or pastels, or feels that they would benefit from a refresher course, then I’d love to help bring out their creativity.
“I keep classes small, and the Arts centre is a convivial meeting place. I like to create a relaxing atmosphere with no pressure.
The programme covers a range of subjects and a range of painting media, making for interesting classes.
Subjects typically included in the programme are skies, trees, beach scenes, greeting cards and much more, whatever people are interested in.”
All materials are provided for a day’s session, which costs £30 including light refreshments.
