Steven Dunn and wife Susan, from Claughton on Brock, organised a charity band night at Claughton Village Hall to raise funds for Kidney Research UK, in support of their son Jonothon, 15, who was diagnosed with IgA Nephropathy in 2013.

Local band The Flatlanders headlined the charity gig, with Garstang Lions sponsoring the band. As well as the entertainment more than 200 revellers also enjoyed a real ale bar with Lancaster Brewery Ales and a prosecco bar.

Steven said: “Overall, a total of £3,500 was raised and many thanks go to all who came, bought tickets and donated.

“Without the generous support of the local community we wouldn’t be able to do this and much needed funds would not be available for Kidney Research.

“Thanks to all who helped out getting things ready, serving beer or prosecco, tidying up – without your help we couldn’t have done it.

“A big thanks to a group of gentlemen known as the Old Geezers who play football at Cockerham on a Tuesday night who rang up out of the blue and presented us with a cheque for £500 on May 9. Your generosity is inspiring.”
