Clitheroe Concerts Society’s first meeting of 2015 will be held tonight, February 4, at 7.30pm at Clitheroe Royal Grammar School.

It features the popular Pennine Piano Trio, who have appeared at the Knowle Green luncheon concerts many times, with a programme of Czech music.

The trio consists of three local RNCM trained musicians. Philip Kubilius is a successful concert pianist whose career has included teaching, having been head of keyboard at Blackburn School of Music.

Violinist Gaynor Sutcliffe organises and often plays at the Knowle Green chamber music concerts, but found fame with bluegrass fiddle playing. Robert Buller is principal cellist and soloist with orchestras in the North West and achieved chart success.

Their programme includes Novak’s Trio Quasi una Balleta, with Dvorak’s popular “Dumky” piano trio, Suk’s Elegie and Smetana’s G minor piano trio.

Tickets (£14) on the door; children andstudents are free.
