Sports mad youngsters called on the help of Championship football star
Danny Ings to help them with a marathon fundraiser to refurbish their school library.

The Burnley FC striker swopped his football boots for running shoes to join the Year 4 class at Kirkland and Catterall St Helen’s CE Primary School for a relay 26-mile run around the sports field.

Around 15 children embraced the gruelling challenge, equivalent to 520 laps of the field, in a bid to raise more than £2,000 to restock their school library with new books and a computer.

Organiser and parent Mark Howard, whose sons Archie and Woody took part in the event on Sunday, said he was delighted that Danny Ings and Burnley FC had supported the initiative.
