Volunteers and friends of Garstang’s Millennium Green are inviting people to a talk about the history of Lancaster Castle.
Dr Colin Penny, a renowned speaker and expert on the castle, will be telling stories about the more colourful characters in the history of Lancaster Castle and Prison, including the rogues, villains and scoundrels who once plagued its walls.
Peter Ryder, the organiser of the event and a trustee of the Millennium Green, said: “The event will support the Millennium Green. It is funded and maintained by friends and volunteers, so every penny we get we spend on the green.
“I hope it will raise the profile of the green and keep it in the public eye plus entertain people, as it is always difficult to come up with something that is going to be interesting, so we are branching out and doing something different this time.
“Colin is an absolute expert on Lancaster Castle, so we are truly fortunate to tempt him to Garstang.”
The talk will take place next Wednesday, (October 1), at the United Reformed Church Hall starting at 7.30 pm Admission will be £3, including tea, coffee and biscuits.
Peter said: “If we could raise £100 for the green that would be excellent, but anything is appreciated and at least we will have shown people the green’s facilities.”
