Rural residents planning to turn a now derelict former village school into a community centre are still hard at work fundraising and are now busy applying for grants.

Thornley Community Space, the group behind plans for the renovation of the old Thornley School building, also have another fundraiser planned.

This is to be an event called Festive Fayre with Christmas Bingo at Ferrari’s Country House Hotel at Thornley on Wednesday, November 27, from 6.30pm.

There promises to be a feast of interesting and unusual gifts on offer from a wide variety of stalls selling local crafts and goodies just perfect for Christmas. The evening is also offering guests the opportunity to tuck into what organisers say will be a delicious hot supper.

Tickets are priced at £10, which includes supper and these are available from ,Little Town Farm Shop at Thornley on 01772 782429, So Plants @ Spout Farm, Longridge or through www.thornley communityspace.org.

Those attending will also be able to buy bingo cards on the night, with plenty of Christmas treats to be won.

All proceeds from the evening will go towards the restoration of the school, which was recently gifted to the people of Thornley by Lord Derby’s estate.
