DARING Girl Guides took over the Victorian estate of Winmarleigh Hall for an action-packed adventure weekend.
Some 150 Brownies and Guides from the Preston South West Division got stuck in to host of activities ranging from fencing and quad to zip-wiring at the residential leisure and outdoor activity centre, set in woodland off Church Lane.
The adventure-hungry girls, aged seven to 15, put their team building skills to the test during the activity break as they fought their way through muddy assault courses and took on water activities including raft building.
Gillian Clarkson, PR and marketing manager for North West Lancashire Girl Guides, said: “The event was a complete success – the girls won’t stop talking about it! They had such a brilliant time while learning skills and making new friends.
“This was the first time we organised this and we will definitely be doing it next year. The weekend shows Girl Guides are not all about knitting crafts, but all about having fun.”
The 19th century house is run by PGL Adventure Holidays – unofficially known by campers as “Parents Get Lost” – who specialise in multi-activity breaks for children.
